Privacy Policy
How SafeCheck collects, uses, protects, and deletes information.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the SafeCheck Android application, its supporting services, and these public policy pages. “SafeCheck,” “we,” “our,” and “us” refer to the developer and operator identified in the app’s Google Play listing.
2. Information we process
Depending on how you use SafeCheck, we may process:
- Profile and family information: selected role, names, family relationships, and phone numbers that you enter.
- Identifiers: generated installation, elder, child, and user identifiers used to connect devices and family members.
- Safety activity: check-in status and time, help-request type and message, recent status, and last-online time.
- Device and notification information: battery level, notification permission state, and Firebase Cloud Messaging token.
- Preferences: offline-alert timing, quiet hours, paused alerts, and emergency contact settings.
- Technical information: network request timestamps, error details, and basic server logs needed to operate and protect the service.
SafeCheck does not request access to your address book, precise location, microphone, camera, call history, text messages, financial information, or advertising identifier.
3. Why we use information
We use the information above to:
- Create and maintain the app identity associated with your installation.
- Bind an elder and family member using a temporary binding code.
- Send and display safety confirmations, help requests, and offline alerts.
- Open your phone’s dialer when you choose to call a saved family contact.
- Deliver push notifications and maintain notification preferences.
- Prevent misuse, troubleshoot failures, and maintain service reliability.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. Local storage and server processing
SafeCheck stores app state on your device using Android private app storage. Information needed for family binding, check-ins, alerts, and notifications is also sent to the SafeCheck backend so linked family members can receive it. Uninstalling the app or clearing Android app storage removes local information but may not remove server records.
5. Service providers and sharing
We use service providers only as needed to operate SafeCheck. Firebase Cloud Messaging, provided by Google, processes notification tokens and delivery information. Hosting and infrastructure providers may process network traffic and operational logs on our behalf.
Safety information is shared with the family member you intentionally bind. We may also disclose information when legally required, to protect people and the service, or as part of a business transfer with appropriate notice. We do not sell personal information, share it with data brokers, or use it for targeted advertising.
6. Retention
We retain information only while it is needed to provide SafeCheck, maintain security, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Retention may vary by data type. When you use “Delete All My Data,” SafeCheck is designed to remove the requesting user’s server records and local information, subject to limited retention required by law, security, fraud prevention, or backup recovery cycles.
7. Your choices and deletion
- Unbind Family Member removes the family connection while keeping your app identity and settings.
- Delete All My Data requests deletion of your server records, bindings, check-ins, help requests, notification token, and local app data.
- You may deny notification permission in Android settings.
- You may contact us through the Support page if you cannot access the app.
To protect users, we may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify that a deletion or access request relates to you. Do not post phone numbers, binding codes, or other sensitive information in a public support forum.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. Production data should be transmitted over encrypted connections, access should be limited to authorized systems, and destructive actions should be verified by the server. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
9. Children
The “child” role means an adult child or other family caregiver. SafeCheck is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum digital-consent age in the user’s country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. International processing
Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use measures intended to protect information during international transfers.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as SafeCheck changes. We will revise the effective date and provide additional notice when required. For questions, privacy requests, or deletion help, visit the SafeCheck Support page or use the developer contact shown in the Google Play listing.
